How to Pursue Beauty School After High School Graduation

This is the year. You’re graduating high school. After years of enduring boring math classes and P.E., you’re finally free to pursue an education you actually enjoy. If your passion is creating amazing hair designs or makeup looks, then you might be considering beauty school. Beauty school is unlike traditional college in many ways, and it all starts when you first step in those doors. Here are the steps you should follow to get started at The Salon Professional Academy Madison.

Step 1: Take a Tour

You or you friends may have taken a college visit road trip around your state or even across the nation. If you didn’t visit any beauty schools, you should rethink that! Touring a beauty school is essential when it comes to picking the right institution for you. The most important thing to take note of on your tour is the way you feel. Does it feel like home? It should! You’ll be spending a lot of time there, so ask around. Talk to staff and current students about their experience, and read about the school online.

At TSPA Madison, we are determined to create a salon-like culture, that way our students know what to expect after graduation, and all of our staff are professionals in the industry. Here, we are all by the industry, for the industry.

Step 2: Schedule an Appointment

After you’ve experienced your school, schedule an appointment to talk about financial assistance. We offer scholarships to students who qualify, and you can find out more by asking questions during a meeting with one of our helpful staff members. This also gives you a chance to get to know the staff a bit more. You can even ask more questions that you may have missed the first time.

Step 3: Enroll

We offer both full time and part time cosmetology and esthetics programs. Apply for one our beauty programs by filling out this form, calling us, or dropping in! We can walk you through our entire enrollment process, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Step 4: Begin!

We have classes that start throughout the year, so check out the cosmetology or esthetics program page to find out what date is coming up next. Be prepared for your first day with our checklist:

  • Black shirt, pants, and shoes. Make sure your shoes are comfy!
  • A big smile and a great attitude!
  • An open mind and a willingness to learn.
  • Something to take notes with.
